TEACHING PRACTICE: PHASE II WEEK 5

 WEEK 5 AND THE JOURNEY

29 July 2024, according to the scheduled timetable, I had two periods in 8G. In the third period, I conducted a problem-solving class on the topic of the algebraic method. I provided a challenging problem, but once the students understood the method to solve it, they found it easier to solve. They responded well to my questions and recalled the steps for solving algebraic problems. I also provided a follow-up activity. In the fourth period, I conducted an activity-based class on different types of equation problems.

The main event of the day was the arts club competition. The trainee teachers were tasked with decorating the home theatre room for the event, which was part of the Van Gogh Day celebrations. 

30 July 2024, I didn’t have any classes according to the timetable. However, my fellow trainee teachers arranged a substitution period for me in 8G during the fourth hour. I conducted a problem-solving class on various equation problems. The students were able to identify the steps involved in solving these problems and successfully worked through the questions I provided. I was happy that they felt comfortable asking questions whenever they encountered difficulties. As a teacher, I felt a sense of satisfaction after leaving the class. Today, I also collected and corrected the students' notebooks. 

31 July 2024, the school did not conduct the morning assembly due to rain, so I had my class during the first period. I conducted a problem-solving session on various equation problems. It wasn’t easy for the students to frame equations independently; they needed my guidance and assistance to solve the problems. Once the equations were framed, they were able to recall the steps for solving them and solve the equations independently. They were interested in the process, though some students were inattentive. I called those students to the board to solve the problem, but they struggled. I assigned them extra practice as imposition. I was able to complete the lesson plan within the allotted time. I also checked the answers to the previous day's follow-up activity.
