Image
WEEK 5 AND THE JOURNEY 29 July 2024, according to the scheduled timetable, I had two periods in 8G. In the third period, I conducted a problem-solving class on the topic of the algebraic method. I provided a challenging problem, but once the students understood the method to solve it, they found it easier to solve. They responded well to my questions and recalled the steps for solving algebraic problems. I also provided a follow-up activity. In the fourth period, I conducted an activity-based class on different types of equation problems. The main event of the day was the arts club competition. The trainee teachers were tasked with decorating the home theatre room for the event, which was part of the Van Gogh Day celebrations.  30 July 2024, I didn’t have any classes according to the timetable. However, my fellow trainee teachers arranged a substitution period for me in 8G during the fourth hour. I conducted a problem-solving class on various equation problems. The students ...

WEEK 3 AND SECOND PART OF JOURNEY 25 July 2024, I had class during the 3rd and 4th periods in 8G. I used the inquiry training model to teach the topic of algebraic methods. The students were initially not interested in this type of learning. I gave clear instructions for the teaching model, but some students asked irrelevant questions. Despite the challenges, I managed to reach the generalization. It was difficult to execute the lesson plan. During the 4th period, I conducted a problem-solving session on algebraic methods. The students could solve the problems, but I also helped them frame equations. I explained one or two questions to them, and later on, they were able to solve the problems independently. They then showed interest in solving the problems. 26 July 2024, I had class during the 1st and 2nd periods. Our teacher from the college came to observe my class. I conducted a problem-solving session on the topic of algebraic methods. The students were able to explain the questions...

WEEK 4 AND MY JOURNEY   22 July 2024, I had class during the 3rd and 4th periods. During the 3rd period, I conducted a problem-solving class on the topic of addition and subtraction. I verified the answers from the previous day's follow-up activity and provided some more questions. The students were able to solve the questions using their logic. For some students, I explained the concepts with daily life examples. I was able to complete the lesson plan within the time period. In the 4th period, I conducted an activity-oriented class on the topic of multiplication and division, and I was able to help them arrive at the generalization easily. I completed the lesson plan early, so I provided some extra questions for solving. After the class, I signed the attendance sheet and went home. 23 July 2024, I had class during the first and second periods in 8G. During the first period, I conducted an activity-based class on the topic of the method of inversion. The class was divided into grou...

WEEK III OF TEACHING PRACTICE JOURNEY Monday 15 July 2024 began with a lot of energy for the whole week. Today, I had class during the 3rd and 4th periods. I conducted a problem-solving class on the topic of bisectors. The students were interested in learning about bisectors, especially since it involved construction. They were able to explain the steps in solving problems related to bisectors and could solve the problems as well. I was also able to complete my lesson plan within the time period and provided them with follow-up activities. After the class, the concerned teacher came, gave some valuable suggestions, and signed my lesson plan. 17 July 2024, I had class during the first period at 8G, where I conducted a problem-solving session on the topic of bisectors. The students were able to identify the properties of bisectors and solve the problems independently. They were interested in learning. I was able to complete my lesson plan within the time period. During the second p...

TEACHING PRACTICE : PHASE II WEEK 2

WEEK II 11 July 2024 I had class during the 4th period. I conducted a proof related to the bisectors of an isosceles triangle. After completing the class, the students could understand the concept of bisectors of an isosceles triangle and were able to recall it. I conducted my diagnostic test. 12 July 2024, the school also had the chess competition for the students. During the first and second periods, I conducted an activity-oriented class on the topic of bisectors. The students were actively engaged in learning about bisectors and developed an interest in the concept. They could recall the basic steps in constructing a bisector. Then I conducted a problem-solving class on the topic of bisectors, covering the steps in the construction of angle bisectors and line bisectors. Since it involved construction-related questions, the students were actively engaged in the learning process. They were able to apply their knowledge of the steps in constructing bisectors. I provided some fol...

Swachata Pakoda Program and Teaching On July 8 Monday, there was an exciting program called Swachhata Pakoda, which was inaugurated by cine actor and current MP and minister Suresh Gopi. The program aimed to promote cleanliness and hygiene among students and staff. Suresh Gopi's presence added a lot of enthusiasm and energy to the event, and his inspiring speech on the importance of cleanliness left a lasting impression on everyone. Monday was an eventful day, starting with my usual teaching responsibilities. I focused on the chapter "Equal Triangles" with my class, 8G. Ensuring the students grasped the fundamental concepts was my top priority. Tuesday continued with my teaching schedule, delving deeper into the concepts of equal triangles. I was pleased to see my students actively participating and showing a good understanding of the topic. Their engagement and willingness to learn made the teaching experience very rewarding. Wednesday, I continued teaching the chapter...

Second Phase of Teaching Practice Continuing the Journey: My Second Phase of Teaching Practice. As the calendar flipped to July, I eagerly stepped into the second phase of my teaching practice. After the initial days of laying the foundation in geometry, the next sessions brought new learning experiences and opportunities for growth. On July 4th, we continued our journey into the world of equal triangles. The focus of the day was to delve deeper into the properties and applications of these geometric figures. I began the class with a quick review of the previous lessons to ensure that all students were on the same page. The students participated actively. We also did a few hands-on activities where students worked in groups to solve problems related to equal triangles.  July 5th was a special day at school as we celebrated Basheer Day. The day began with a school assembly dedicated to Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, the renowned Malayalam writer. The assembly included speeches, skits, and...

On July 1st, I was assigned to class 8G, marking the beginning of a new journey filled with anticipation and enthusiasm.  The first week was dedicated to introducing the students of 8G to the fascinating world of geometry. Specifically, we delved into the first chapter of the 8th standard curriculum, "Equal Triangles." This chapter forms the cornerstone of geometric principles, and I was excited to guide my students through it.  We discussed the basic properties of triangles.  The students were curious and asked numerous questions which made the session interactive and engaging. Building on the previous day's foundation, we explored different types of equal triangles and their properties. I introduced them to the concept of equal triangles and how it plays a crucial role in identi...
